So, yer lookin’ for a fight, eh? Well, step into the alley and prepare for a two-fisted Super NES slam-bang slugfest. Final Fight is home from the arcades. You’ve read about the Japanese best-seller, now you can beat-up the bad guys in the American version.

Capcom’s five level, bit head-banger is almost a carbon copy of the fabled coin-muncher, however, this rendition allows for just one street fighter to play instead of two. Gang warfare is no laughing matter in Metro City, and the local terrorist group, the Mad Gears, just upped the ante — they’ve kidnapped the Mayor’s daughter, Jessica. If Maya Haggar doesn’t meet their demands in 24 hours, it’s curtains for Miss Jess and possibly the entire city.

Mind your backs Mad Gears’. When Haggar a former pro wrestler gets mad, watch out! Metro’s gonna’ be rockin’ and rollin’ with punches tonight! Play as either Maya Haggar himself, a brawny muscle-bound brute when he sheds his suit , a as Jessica’s boyfriend Cody, a kickboxing pro. They’re both lean and mean, but take these boys for a test run first, then decide whether Haggard raw strength a Cody’s blinding speed better suits your fighting style.

It’s hard to keep track, but Final Fight’s body count easily reaches triple figures. From “wimpazoids” such as Simons to towering behemoths such as Andore, the creeps run the gamut of vicious fist-flingers, knife-wielders, and death-dealers. The bosses are a real slap in the face, and your chances for survival improve if you enter into a battle well prepared. Chomp down energy-boosting food or seize a sword, pipe, or knife for that extra edge.

If it makes you feel any better, you begin with five chances which can be increased if you earn enough points and three continues. Good luck! A few of the missing arcade qualities, such as the woman warriors, two person game-play, and, yes, even the nasty blood spills are sorely missed in this SNES version of Final Fight, and there is the occasional intrusion of sprite-flicker.

A few more levels would have been nice, too, but, hey, we can’t have everything. Raws aside, if you’re up for a generous dose of amazing animation, rip roarin’ music, strappin’ sound effects, and just plain adrenalin-pumping fun game-play, seriously consider getting a grip on Final Fight!

You’ve played it in the arcade and at home on your Super NES. Take to the streets to rescue the mayor’s daughter Jessica from the evil clutches of Belger, the city’s organized crime leader!

You can select one of three characters: Guy, Cody, or the mayor himself, Haggar! Each has strengths and weaknesses during combat. You can also do a two-player simultaneous game where two can join forces! Or, if you just want to fight a friend, there is a two-player “versus” mode!

Featuring excellent stereo sound courtesy of CD technology , this Final Fight may be the best of all! Finally the waiting is over,-and Sega is bringing out one of the most popular fighting games ever: Final Fight! Join Cody, Haggar and Guy in their war on crime as they search for a kidnapped girl.

You will battle an array of enemies, ranging from the not-so-tough members of street gangs all the way to the fiercest of Bosses!

The game, while graphically enriched on the CD, retains its challenge! With the additional memory afforded by the CD, all the levels from the original can now be found. You also have the new opportunity to play as any of the three characters! The music is also ported straight from the arcade.

All this and more await you in Final Fight CD, a fighting game unparalled in its intense action and awesome graphics!

Join in the Final Fight! Final Fight from Capcom is the single hottest-selling game cartridge in Japan right now, and it’s easy to see why. As the mayor of a major metropolitan city, it’s your job to keep the streets clean, but when underworld thugs kidnap your girlfriend, it s time to roll up your sleeves and give it the personal touch.

You can play one of two characters: the huge, muscle-bound Haggar, or the slighter, but quicker, Cody. Cody’s speed makes the going a little easier, since you’re often attacked by whole mobs of enemies and he’s able to maneuver around them.

On the other hand, Haggar who apparently was a professional wrestler before he was mayor has a lot more interesting and gloriously silly fighting moves. Final Fight is currently a popular arcade game in this country. If you’re familiar with the arcade version, you’ll be familiar with the Super NES version because there’s no real difference – the two versions are the same game , pixel for pixel.

If we can expect more direct translations like this, we can also expect a lot of gaming excitement. Metro City used to be a calm place where children could roam freely without harm. That was before Belger and his goons took charge of the biggest crime wave ever to hit Metro City. To top it off, Belger has even kidnapped the Mayor’s beautiful daughter! Guy, Cody, and Haggar are all included as well as, yes, two player simultaneous play! Now, two fighting machines can battle the forces of Belger through the heart of downtown Metro City.

All the stages from the arcade have been faithfully redone along with a jammin’ CD soundtrack! Featuring all of the intense punch and kick action of the coin-op version, this cart has lost very little in the translation.

The graphics are virtually identical, pixel for pixel and the sounds are first rate. You must battle your way through more than five different levels of action filled with street punks, wrestlers, and samurai swordsmen.

Final Fight is a fighting extravaganza filled with loads of action and challenge from beginning to end. A “punching and kicking free-for-all” best describes Capcom’s arcade hit. Final Fight has been translated to the Super Famicom almost perfectly it’s minus the two player mode. It’s no wonder it tops the Super Famicom game chart in Japan. You’ll kick some major behind in subways, seedy warehouses, and wrestling rings. It’s a good thing Cody is a veteran karate champ, and Haggar is one of the greatest street fighters that ever lived.

Street fighting game fans rejoice. Cap-com has taken the hit arcade game Final Fight and brought it home to the SF. This is the game that will define this genre for the future. You start each level by picking either Haggar or Cody. The action here is pure street fighting. Although some of the key combinations are difficult to master, once you do, you can perform some awesome moves.

Most of the moves look like they were taken from pro-wrestling, like brain busters and body slams. To add to the variety, ICody and Haggar have have different moves. The graphic quality and the animation is top-notch. It’s not all hands and feet either: Kick some boxes and you might find a weapon like a knife or a pipe. Once you are armed with the sword, you can pretty much finish off the bad guys without taking any damage.

One neat feature is the addition of damage meters for the enemies. Once you hit I an enemy, his damage meter appears and stays on the screen until you hit a different enemy. This is better than most games that just have damage meters for the bosses. The sound effects are mostly groans and screams–but they are the best dam groans and screams I’ve heard on a game system yet.

They complement the great graphics and game play. The only negative is the lack of a two-player option. This would have made a great single-player game into an even better two-player simultaneous game. Browse games Game Portals. Final Fight. Install Game. Pick one up and shoulder-flip him onto the others. Don’t munch edibles until you really need them. Use your spin attack to block rolling barrels. To avoid a trio of flame-throwers, move to the bottom of the screen and smash the first one before he attacks. The other soldiers’ firebombs will fall off harmlessly.

Give Thrasher the boot with your hold-maneuvers. Watch out when he whistles for reinforcements. Rapid punch Katana, and when he drops his blade don’t pick it up! Instead, apply a flying foot to knock him away. Use aerial assaults to weaken EDI-E, and when he pulls out his pistol, move in for a quick body-slam. Try a spin to counter Abigail’s mad charges. Capcom rocked your SNES two years ago with Final Fight , the baddest side-scrolling beat-em-up on the block at that time. Since then, the stakes for high-quality bit brawling have been raised with the release of leaner and meaner games, like Streets of Rage 2 for the Genesis. Now Final Fight 2 enters the scene with two-player action and new characters, but with game play very similar to Final Fight. This sequel puts up a good fight, but unfortunately it seems to have lost some muscle tone in the offseason.

FF 2 is more like a tremor than an earthquake. Final Fight reached a smashing conclusion when Haggar, Cody, and Guy pounded the Mad Gear Gang’s boss Belger through a plate-glass window at the top of a high rise. Belger’s splat on the cement below signaled the end of the Mad Gear’s grip on Metro City Two years later, the remnants of the Mad Gear Gang have reassembled into a cohesive international crime force, vandalizing major cities around the globe.

Worse yet, the Gears have kidnapped Guy’s karate master, Genryusai, and his daughter, Rena. Cody and Guy are out of town, so Haggar recruits Maki and Carlos to help him throw a wrench into the gang’s gears once and for all. Teamwork is the key to success, and FF 2’s team holds all the keys. Maki is Rena’s great-looking sister, and she combines Chun Li’s agility with Guy’s ninjitsu. Carlos is Haggar’s South American roommate, and his sword skills bring down the house!

Mike Haggar is a Herculean professional wrestler who crunches all the skulls he wants with his new-and-improved Spinning Pile Driver. Unlike its forefather, Final Fight 2 enables two players to deal out the punishment together. You pick from the three fighters and leave one riding the pines for later.

One player can also go it alone. Even in two-player mode, there’s almost no slowdown, and the screen flicker is negligible. Character control is smooth and easy-going. Physically, Final Fight 2’s in top form, but you’ll notice right away that the moves are basically unchanged from the first Final Fight. You get the same variety of attacks, including punches, kicks, jump kicks, hair-pull moves, throws, and a special attack that saps your energy as it crushes the enemies.

You also get knives, two-by-fours, and nightsticks. Playing this game is like getting stuck in a time warp, because all the moves are stuck in a rut. Even though it’s a good beating, FF 2 should have popped you with more complicated controller techniques, blocks, and reversal moves.

Ever notice how video game villains always return for more punishment in sequels? Unfortunately, that’s the case in Final Fight 2. Some old favorites are back, such as the towering Andores, but they haven’t learned any new moves. The new punk recruits wield sticks, knives, and shock guns, but their attacks are unimaginative and repetitive. The lack of diversity wouldn’t be so bad if the enemies were smarter, but their SATs would probably match their shoe sizes.

You can adjust the difficulty, but even on the highest level it’s much too easy to grab and throw the feeble foes. Anyone with above-average skills will down Final Fight II in one sitting, wipe off the foam, and wonder where the rest of the games is. Toss cronies into their boss at the end of the level. Fighting from a distance is safer than a hand-to-hand slugfest.

Whereas the first Final Fight thrust you into city slums, bars, parks, and alleyways, the second takes you on a graphic tour of six famous cities around the world. The new backgrounds are crisp and detailed, but you may find the scenery less appealing in this go-round. International sight-seeing in front of cafes and docks doesn’t work well with the fighting theme. However, the character animation is astoundingly smooth and fluid.

Additionally, there is now vertical screen scrolling in addition to the horizontal movement. Final Fight 2 cranks some great sound effects, but a few of them — like Maki’s squeal — can be annoying. The music’s okay, but it loops quickly and is a big disappointment compared to the emotional, resonant tunes from the first Final Fight.

Final Fight 2’s a fighter to be reckoned with, but it’s not a knockout. You’ll want to take it on for the thrills of two-player Final Fighting, but the game play’s predictable, the music’s weak, and the enemies are bums. This isn’t the fight to end all fights, and we hope the next Final Fight installment is better Now you can be the same characters in a two-player game!

The screen will turn blue. Select a two-player game, and then go to the character selection screen. Have player 2 choose the character you both want to play as, and then have player 1 choose the same character. Both will be the same characters, but with different colors. This time the Mad Gear Gang is out to conquer the world. As insurance, they’ve kidnapped Genryusai and his daughter Rena.

To save both, Mike and his new partners Carlos and Maki must fight through 6 levels filled with enough boss characters to kill them many times over.

Whether you fight alone, or use the new two player simultaneous option, you will need your hottest moves to eliminate the Gang forever. The world depends on it. As insurance they’ve kidnapped Genryusai and his daughter Rena.

To save both Mike and his new partners Carlos and Maki must fight through 6 levels filled with enough boss characters to kill them many times over.

Whether you fight alone or use the new two player simultaneous option you will need your hottest moves to eliminate the Gang forever. The new and improved eight-meg Final Fight II is still in the works, but here’s a quick peek. The biggest and best news about this sequel is that it’s got simultaneous two-player action! Haggar’s back, along with a couple of new buds, to make a total of three fighters to choose from.

The new chop-busters on the block include Carlos and Maki a girl. Each character has their own set of moves, and the game’s graphics and action look much closer to the original arcade version than the first SNES game did. The game play is similar to the SNES version, though. There are five levels of side-scrolling, head-to-head, beat-em-up action, and there’s even a story to go with it.

Remember Guy in the original Final Fight from the arcades? It seems that Maki’s father was Guy’s teacher and trainer, and now he’s been kidnapped by that bunch of thugs who are always making trouble for the Final Fight bunch, the Mad Gear Gang. With a little help from you, Haggar, Carlos, and Maki are out to rescue Maki’s father.

Just for fun, Capcom’s even stuck a surprise into the game — special cameo appearances by two Street Fighter heroes. Check out Chun Li, who’s sitting at a sidewalk cafe, and Guile, who’s hanging out in the crowd watching the action.

Nice touch! Final Fight II won’t be climbing into the ring until late ’93, probably just in time for the holidays. However, two-player Final Fight SNES action that really matches up to the bone-crushing bruisin’ that made the arcade version a hit will be worth the wait!
